The food bits were great. The recipes are even good. But I agree, I couldn't stand 'the protagonist.' I think the one that really got to me was the international baby smuggling bit. I can't exactly put my finger on why I found this so offensive, but I really felt there was more than one side to that story that hadn't been explored. I guess, it's a sense that she was totally unaware to her own privilege, not to mention the suffering of others.
