Note to self:

After you've finished the novel draft and got it ready for people to see --

It's time for the short story about the faeries who are in love with the Los Angeles freeways -- by night, when they're rivers of light: white one direction, red the other, like blood and hope -- and who make their cars of bone and string and horn and bell and silk thread and glamour, so that they can drive as fast as they want by night without putting themselves within a cage of iron.

(I love Seattle, but, you know, I also loved Los Angeles.)

I really, really want to read this.

heh. reminds me of the heady rush I used to get when driving the 110 between downtown and Pasadena at 3 in the morning. dark and twisty and empty and that I'M ALIVE feeling. I miss you, LA! I want to read this story, too.

I used to do that drive at night too, just for the heck of it. I'd usually start out on the 210 and wind up on the 110.
