First, the happy thing. I made cheesecake last night, and dragged people over to help me eat it. (It's actually, uh, Vossler York Azelas cheesecake, recipe courtesy of another fangirl I know. dork dork dork.)

Then, the thinky thing. I am, as is no shock to any of you, I'm sure, one of those people for whom social events -- even social events I enjoy -- are more draining than energizing. The frustrating thing is that I can't... always predict the rate of drain. Sometimes twelve hours of a party will leave me only mildly more tired than I would be otherwise -- but sometimes five minutes will not only use up my day's reserves but borrow on reserves through the next week. I'm more or less at peace with this -- I am coming to realize that introversion is not a crime, so long as you do have meaningful friendships and can function in daily life and the workplace without problems -- but it's kind of annoying not to be able to accurately plan around it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one for whom this is true.
For me, it has to do with how much pressure there is to be interesting. At a party, if there are games or something, the pressure's not so high. If it's the kind of party where people hang out with drinks in circles and talk to people, I can handle about five minutes and then I start hiding in corners.

What type of pan do you make it in? I've been thinking about making a cheesecake of some sort since N likes them.

I used a springform pan -- a large one for this cheesecake (8 or 9 inches in diameter) because it was a huge cheesecake -- 4 pounds when baked.

Amen to that.
