small pleasures, an irregular series

Getting a hotel room by oneself, which means getting the whole bed to spread out on, and taking over all the outlets, and being able to wander around the room at five pm in one's underwear with impunity.

Oh man I love that!

At most cons, I have a room to myself; this time, I'm sharing it. The list of folks I'll room with is fairly short, though.

Yeah, ditto. With certain kinds of people, sharing is as much of a pleasure as being alone, although in a different way, but I really don't want to share with random people.

Hrm.

Spreading out over the whole bed.

Taking over all the outlets.

Wandering around in your underwear at 5pm.

I don't get it... isn't that what you ALWAYS do? ;->

What I love about hotels is that someone else does all the cleaning.

Ohhhh yes. And the delight of fresh, crisp, newly-washed sheets without having to have spent the day on laundry to get there!

I like when there are two beds, then I can eat in one bed without fear of getting crumbs on the one that I plan to sleep on...

....not to mention not having to buy groceries, cook or wash the dishes for once; one does grow weary of one's own cooking upon occasion...

It's true! Although those are general hotel-stay pleasures, rather than staying-in-a-hotel-alone pleasures.

Oh, yes! Though I love my husband dearly, it's such a treat to have a room all to myself and be able to do what I like, when I like. It's why I always book a single room when I go to conventions, if I can. I have had some enjoyable room shares too, but it's so nice to be selfish once in a while, just take over the whole space and not have to worry about disturbing someone else.

Yeah, that's what I often do too, but then I have to put up with questions like "Mama, why aren't you wearing pants?" and comments like, "That bra is pretty, can I touch it?"
