New Year's Resolutions, 2008 edition
Dec. 31st, 2007 11:46 amNew Year's Resolutions. I don't know that I'll manage all this, but it's always nice to have A Plan.
Healthy
* Do the Walk to Rivendell with
jmpava. Because I eat okay, and I weigh okay, but I don't exercise. And I'm told I'll live longer and feel better if I exercise. So exercise it is -- thirty to forty minutes a day, three or four days a week, and I'll walk to Rivendell and beyond.
* Eat more vegetable-based dishes. I cook reasonably healthy food, but it's still more reliant on meat and high-fat foods than I'd like. I'm going to invest in a few good vegetarian cookbooks and have some vegetable dinners.
* Eat more whole grains.
* Take a yoga class.
* Get a better office chair/desk setup, and see a chiropractor or massage therapist to repair the damage it's already done.
* Drink more water.
* Actually go to the dentist and get stuff taken care of.
Wealthy
* Pay down debts, highest-interest first.
* Develop a 3 month emergency fund.
* Contribute to the 401k to the match amount.
* Save enough to contribute to a Roth IRA next year.
Wise
* Read and blog about one book per week.
* Manage time better.
* Especially manage time better at work.
* Develop better conflict-resolution strategies.
* Worry less.
* See more of Seattle.
* Spend more time on my hobbies (beading, gardening, cooking).
* Take at least one for-fun class, such as knitting or weaving or sushi-making or drawing or whatever.
* Do some for-fun study, such as Java programming or biology or the history of China.
(Writing)
* Complete "The Engineer at the Gates of Horn and Ivory."
* Complete Feather in the Gears.
* Start The Light Between The Trees.
