Lessons of the evening:

* Onions slowly cooked until they turn golden and melting-tender with just faint hints of brown around the edges are awesome. But onions cooked that way in bacon fat are pure awesome.
* I am incapable of making a small batch of chowder.

I don't know much about food or cooking, but one of the few things I do know is that, no matter how awesome something is, you can make it more awesome by adding bacon. Yay bacon!
