I love the Goon. I remember really beginning to like him despite myself the first read-through, and then feeling almost as betrayed as Howard and co. when he turned out to be Erskine, and then loving him again when it was revealed that he was the only one who had recognized Venturus (though of course Torquil had a good excuse, not having seen him clearly).
Maybe I'll request The Continued Adventures of Awful and the Goon for Yuletide.
...And yes, it's out of print, woe! As are most of DWJ's stand-alones. I had to order A Tale of Time City and The Homeward Bounders used, too.
