I haven't bothered to change my phone number since moving to Seattle, so I've still got a 213 area code, which is LA, of course. I've been thinking about getting a new phone recently, and I'm trying to decide if it's worth changing my number when I do, to a Seattle area code.

The pros of changing are that the number are, obviously, that it will be local to where I live. (I'm not sure how many people that affects -- I think most of my friends mainly use cells -- but there may be some friends who it does affect, and of course things like the doctor's office, etc.) The cons are, equally obviously, that I'll have to tell everyone the new number, including changing it for credit card companies, doctor's offices, blah blah blah.

So I turn to LJ.

Bonus points if you can tell me why!

For me, I still have my SF Bay Area number (Yes, I haven't lived there since 2000). As for convenience, basically all my friends have cell phones so it doesn't matter, and businesses will call you regardless of localness. The biggest problem I've had with keeping my (925) number is that I have to type in the new area code every time I call someone here (but I typically have them on speed dial, so I don't even do that much).
