Not that I'm going to do anything with this data. I'm just making chili for dinner (part of Plan: Use Meat As Seasoning, I'm making Mark Bittman's Chili Non Carne, with my own modifications because I suck at cooking straight out of a book, except with a garnish of a very small amount of grilled steak, and possibly bacon fat to sweat the vegetables... I'm hoping the addition of bacon fat, cilantro and flavorful seasonings will help to overcome [livejournal.com profile] jmpava's aversion to bean-based dishes).

Assume, for the purpose of answering this question, that the chili in question is whatever kind you like best -- whether that's Strict Texas Con Carne, Not So Strict Con Carne With Tomatoes And Stuff, Hippie Chili With Lots Of Vegetables, Death To The Enemies Of The Revolution Chili With Two Kinds Of Meat, Red Wine, Cocoa Powder And Shoestring Beets, The Stuff Out Of A Can, or any of a squillion other variants. (I won't judge. My favorite chilis are all things that would make purists sneer.) Of course, if the answers are different for different kinds of chili, feel free to say so in the comments.

If you don't like any kind of chili, well, you can safely skip this poll. :)

Not really a fan of chili. I like anything with cheese and chopped tomatoes though, and might eat chili with it.

Chili sandwich. Or a bowl of chili with bread as the eating utensil.

*sigh* Yet another of those foods that I don't make because my husband would rather pull his brain through his nose then eat it. I miss my father's chili!

Is that because he doesn't like chili? Or because of how hot you would make it? :)

I usually make cornbread when Matt makes chili. So sometimes I do the "crumbled cornbread" topping. Cheese does sound good, as does sour cream, but I'm not sure I've ever done it.

For my chili that I make: Sour cream sometimes. Cheese sometimes.

For the chili from Steak and Shake: Over spaghetti.

Chili on a baked potato's an excellent way to do it. ANd easy, too-- slow-cooker chili's easy to make, and easy to make bunchtons of, it stores well, and you can make a (not great, but passable) baked potato in the microwave.

I didn't check spaghetti because I think that's weird, but I do eat chili served over elbow macaroni. Also I like it served over cornbread. Yum!

I put chili on hot dogs. With pickles and cheese. Ooh, I also like chili on fries (there's a healthy meal...) - though a potato would probably work as well. With pickles and cheese (sour cream and cheese for the straight-up potato). Though I haven't done it, I might like chili in a bread bowl with sour cream and cheese (didn't check the former two).

All the ways to serve chili sound wonderful. I not a purist, but I can be picky. Some chili is nasty(like the one at the cafe- which is really odd considering how incredibly fresh and tasty the majority of our food is). But I'm not a snob. One of my favorites is a canned Laredo-style chili by Stagg

If I make cornbread to go with chili, sometimes it gets crumbled over the top. Other times I serve chili with some sort of hearty bread, which is generally dunked but could go in the bottom of the bowl I suppose. [livejournal.com profile] willworker's comment reminded me that I've done chili over a baked potato before, though not in a while.
