Dec. 15th, 2008 05:34 pmFor the curious, the other day, when I was asking what to have with the acorn squash and cornbread? I settled on both miso soup and roasted beet salad, since they're both pretty easy.
Today, we're having a really hearty winter dish: a sausage, potato and onion fry. (I might throw in some of the baby turnips I got at the market -- they were a 'bonus vegetable' from one of the vendors, which he slipped into my bag after I'd paid for the kobocha squash, bunch of carrots, bunch of kale and pound of beets I was buying from him. Yay for late-in-the-day trips to the market! I also got dilled chevre, German sausage, two miniature pies, and Honeycrisp apples. Alas, the Cider People were either not there, or had sold out and gone home before we got there.)
I think I'm going to serve it with Waldorf salad, in the interest of getting something approaching vitamins in there... And a nice red wine. EDIT: Ooh, and maybe a side of saurkraut....
After I call my parents, though.
