So, uh, is your important data backed up?

Full disclosure: I back up important documents after each modification (ie, tax paperwork, my own fiction, my journal entries, other irreplaceable documents, etc.), and I do it to an off-site backup using a version control system so I can roll back any corrupted saves, but I don't back up all umpty-ump gigabytes of music, podcasts, video, etc. that I have. Well, I mean, my iPod works as a semi-hemi-demi music backup, but not really. On the other hand, if I lose my AMVs, music, etc, I'd be pissy, but not distraught the way I would if I lost my writing. Although probably I should look into getting an external hard drive to back up media, at least.

EDIT: I guess the other lesson, besides 'back up your data, stupid,' is 'if someone has a solid reason to be out to get you, make sure they don't have a chance to screw you up hardcore.'

I've never heard of JournalSpace. Was it major?

Not very big that I can see, no. But apparently it'd been running for 6 years. If I had 6 years of journaling hosted somewhere, and I wasn't maintaining my own backups and I lost it.... that'd be a big loss.
