* Pot roast pot roast pot roast! It's not quite done, but it smells diviiiiiiine.
* A very nice red wine to go with it, too.
* Bead organizing boxes! I think I'm going to spend the evening sorting beads, and maybe make some new earrings.
* And I did some useful cleaning, and a load of laundry, which, yay.

Oh, speaking of which -- does anyone want two pair of pliers? One needlenose, one round-nose. (I upgraded to a very nice fancy anti-RSI-type set, so I don't need my starter set.) They're intended for jewelrymaking, but if you want to do something else with them, I don't care. (Local types get preference, because I don't have to ship; beyond that, first call gets 'em.)

EDIT: Also! I just said this to the boy, and then I realized that when I was fourteen I would never have expected to say anything like it in my life, and I am so happy that my life is such that I have:

Me: I'm not sure I need to see Watchmen in the theater, but maybe on DVD.
Boy: Mm.
Me: But you know what I do want to see in the thater?
Boy: What?
Me: The Star Trek reboot.
Boy: Oh yeah?
Me: Yeah. Hey, we could go see your dad, and watch it over there, and then your dad and [his partner] and I could discuss how hunky all the characters are.

....yeah. Having gone to an all-boys' school way back in the [mumble]'s, my thinking ran along the same lines - except that I talk about cute actresses with my "I can't be bi! that's, like, cheating!" bi female barber...

I'm not going to be able to make it to the vampire ball, I'm afraid -- have some obligations to catch up on, plus I couldn't figure out how to make a respectable werewolf costume in time, or even a not-respectable lame wolfman costume. ;) If you do wear the dress, make sure to get pictures, though! :D

What's anti-RSI? Also, just curious, what difference does the nose shape make in bending wire?

Anti-RSI = requires less effort of the hand and wrist, and therefore puts me at less danger of carpal tunnel and other repetitive stress injuries.

Flat-nose pliers are good for holding a piece of wire steady so that you can bend it, twist it, or whatever. Round-nose pliers aren't so good for that -- they're round, so the wire slips more -- but they're perfect for making loops and other rounded shapes, because you don't wind up with a flat place in the wire where the flat edge of the plier held it. (Also, you can make pretty good small loops just by winding the wire around the rounded 'jaw' of the pliers.)
