Have not been having a great day.

On the plus side: the produce box arrived, and it had green things. I mean, green things that were neither kale nor cabbage. Arugula and baby spinach, yay!

Feh. It's snowing here.

::Hug:: Hope things go better tomorrow.

It was snowing just last week here, although it didn't stick. (Thank goodness for mild climates.)

We should be getting asparagus at the market soon, I hope!

::envy:: Once we get decent asparagus where I live, I'm going to have to do what I got at a wedding I went to-- lightly cooked asparagus with a bit of prosciutto wrapped about it. A bit of salt, strong flavor, with the crunchy contrast, and a convenient edible thing to hold the prosciutto with. Mmm...

you seem to be having a lot of those recently :(

(days that aren't great, not green things)

Yeah. I dunno. I'm not sure if I'm depressed or just cranky or what.

I remember veggies. Maybe someday I will make it to a grocery store. I wonder if I can still identify a banana? They are yellow, right?

No! Bananas are red and round and grow in clusters.

*cough*

...I'm liking the whole 'eat local produce' thing, but ZOMG I am going to be glad when we get well into spring and there's a bit of variety.

Hooray for green things!

I can't wait for asparagus in the CSA box. I want to make asparagus soup!

I've also been trying to eat more locally and seasonally, and at the end of winter it's so hard. I broke over and bought tomatoes this week. I hadn't bought fresh tomatoes in months, but Berkeley Bowl had a bag of four heirloom tomatoes on the distressed rack for $1.99 and I couldn't resist. Hothouse grown, I'm sure, and they were a bit overripe, but I hope that my craving is now satisfied for a while.

Fresh tomatoes are high on the list of things that I'm really looking forward to getting back in season. Yum. That and bell peppers.
