From the looks of it*, Google Wave would be the optimum place to run an online RPG.

* - From what I've heard of it, I mean; I don't actually have an invite myself.**

** - This is not an unsubtle way of grubbing for one, I promise. ;)

Although I was trying not to grub, I have been sent an invite, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mbrubeck. Thank you. :)

Here via network; I realize that you're not asking for one, but I have quite a few to spare if you want. :D

It would be very RPGable

Here's one group who did exactly that: Google Wave: we came, we saw, we played D&D

Also, invite sent. :)

Oh, awesome! And it's a Mouse Guard RPG, too, which adds to the awesome levels. Thank you for the link!

...and for the invite. :)

By the way, apparently it can take a day or so for the invitation to be mailed. And I accidentally broke my promise to Adam Bliss, who invited me to Google Wave on the condition that I never use the word "invite" as a noun. :(

No problem.

And, oops. :) Although I have to say, I am very amused by that as a condition.

We use a combination of Gametable and Skype because it allows us to use a gameboard where we can see where everyone is, and we can talk to each other.

Skype would work if we all had mics/cameras. It would work great then.

But we tried doing it once where it was typing in skype chat rooms. That... not so well. Hence looking for alternatives ;->

(or we just require people to have mics now :-> )

We all have microphones, but we don't run webcams. The DM "calls" everyone. Gametable does all the die rolls so no one can lie (not that we would) and it allows the DM to build scenarios and we have pogs that represent our characters

Does this mean that Bramble & Sea isn't entirely defunct?

Possibly! I'm contemplating. If I start it again, it'd probably be more along the lines of longer sessions spaced farther apart, because of the difficulty of finding a weekly timeslot that works for everyone.

I've had a campaign idea floating around in my head. But yes. Time. Time time time. The thought of actually GMing is ... well, unrealistic.

If you guys were interested in seeing how ours works, let me know, I am sure the others wouldn't mind.
