It's time for the yearly pilgrimage to AX!

They seem to have messed up their line management. I waited longer this year than I can remember waiting in pre-reg lines years past.

Kingdom Hearts costumes? Still extremely popular. (I have some thinky thoughts about the demographics of anime cons and the prevalence of women doing Organization XIII cosplay, in which they a) are dressed mostly as men, and b) are wearing about the least revealing costumes possible, and, relatedly, the way that ties into the culture of women-cosplaying-for-other-women when the stereotype is that women cosplay [skimpily] for the benefit of men. But I need to chew on that a bit more.)

It will be fascinating to be at an AX now that I know some Naruto.

When scanning trhough my f-list, I misread "pilgrimage" as "plumage," which seems rather appropriate, considering the main topic of the post.

I think there are multiple types of people who cosplay for different reasons. After living in SB (specifically, seeing Halloween in IV), I can confidently say that there are some women who dress in skimpy costumes to attract men (which is different than for the benefit of men). Personally, I just like costumes, and I think elaborate costumes are fun. When I put a lot of effort into a costume, I'm looking to impress people in general, not one gender or the other (though when I was single maybe there was a skew toward impressing potential partners), but mostly I just want to be happy with what I've made.
