Wedding, With Photos

So about three weeks now (whoops), jmpava and I got married. :) Although the wedding planning made me a bit anxious, the wedding itself was really delightful, and in the end I'm glad we did it. (Had a wedding, I mean; I was always glad we were going to get married!)

The ceremony and reception were at the Woodland Park Zoo, which I love. We were fortunate enough to have an officiant (David Serkin-Poole, cantor at Temple B'nai Torah) who actually had a personal connection: he's known jmpava since he (Pav, I mean, not David) was about eight. He did a service for us that was part of Pava's cultural traditions, included some of my own, and was actually personal to us.

And we were at the zoo! With a jaguar and an owl!

Anyway, I had a wonderful time, and I was so glad to see everyone who was able to make it.

maggiedacatt made my bouquet, and morganlf made the bouquets on the tables. (We got the flowers for all of the above from the Wallingford Farmer's Market that morning.) This is my bouquet:

I couldn't help but think of this as the 'props table.' (The ceremony involves two glasses of wine, and of course the breaking of the wineglass, which is what's in the napkin.)

Our huppa was held by four of our friends: Shamik, bellwethr, archonsengine and maggiedacatt.

We had a wine-and-appetizers reception Jaguar Cove, the area outside the jaguar enclosure. It was lit with fairy lights and candles on the tables, so the pictures didn't come out so well, but it was lovely. And I'm told people did get to see the jaguar!

Then we went inside the Rainforest Pavilion (aka the food court, but it looked really good for a food court!) and there was an OWL. (We arranged an owl encounter because, dude, if you get married at the zoo, why not?)

It was a spectacled owl, and it was there for quite some time with its handler, who talked all about it and answered questions. People seemed to like the owl!

Partly because I hate wedding boutique stores and partly becuase I could get an awesome dress for a reasonable price there. (The wrap on my arm was crocheted by my great grandmother, and I was glad it went so well, because that meant I could use it.)

It was SO FUN, we were still talking about it the whole week after - I am so glad I was actually able to get it together to get out of the house and go! (I will leave the house for you!) The ceremony really was personal, and beautiful. And that picture of you and P with the owl is FANTASTIC.
