First lines(ish) of first posts of each month of 2010! (Well, first public posts.)

January: Lamb chops sous vide, browned in butter, are a thing of beauty and a joy forever.

February: An experiment, in the hopes of using up the stuff in the crisper in a timely fashion.

March: I was taking to my parents this weekend, a little about wedding stuff, and my mom shared an anecdote that I'd either never heard or had forgotten.

April: Due to weight changes and a changing personal sense of fashion (many of the staples of my USC undergrad years are, er, not so much the thing anymore), I am in dire need of a wardrobe makeover.

May: Several dinner options for today! Mostly involving things I got at the farmer's market. Help me out, o Internet?

June: This was the panel that I had the most sheer fun at. It was also the panel that was most different than my expectations: I had kind of expected (I'm not sure why) discussion of actual guilty pleasures, but the panel was about why we use the term 'guilty' to refer to pleasures, the difference between guilt and shame, the difference between embarrassment and guilt, and what pleasures actually are harmful and people should feel guilty about.

July: It's time for the yearly pilgrimage to AX!

August: [livejournal.com profile] vom_marlowe pointed me to HolyClothing, which has a lot of lovely hippie/gothic/gypsy/faux-medieval styles. They're also reasonably priced! So I think I'm going to get a dress for Sirens from there.

September: Married now!

October: I am currently sitting in the hotel bar of the Vail Cascade resort, the day before Sirens begins properly (there's a dessert reception tonight, programming starts tomorrow), enjoying the comfortable chairs and enormous windows that look out over the mountains. (The bar isn't open right now, so it's also nice and peaceful.) I can see aspen—some green, some deep gold-yellow, as they're mid-turn—and some kind of pine or fir, and a creek, and the clouds passing overhead. It's quite pleasant! Right now we're at 8000 feet, but I'm keeping hydrated and resting a lot, so it isn't bothering me too much.

November: For those of you (like me) who have been eagerly awaiting a Windows edition of Scrivener (a piece of writing software, very well-spoken-of, previously available only on Mac): there's now a beta version out! I installed it and have been playing with it. It's shiiiiiiiiny.

December: Today (well, sunset tonight, which at this latitude isn't that long from now) is the first day of Hanukkah. It's also the day I get to open the first window on my Advent calendar. Mmm, chocolate.

In conclusion: food, food, cons, clothes, cons, clothes, food. Oh, and I got married.

Sounds about right.

(This was a bad year for bookblogging, but I am aiming to do better next year. Probably not quite to the degree of [personal profile] rushthatspeaks's book per day, but I am going to set some kind of goal.)
