While the wedding itself was lovely, the lead-up to the wedding was, uh, occasionally... stressful. One thing that helped, though, was having something to do with my hands that occupied my attention, because that kept me from being able to work up a good head of freakout. Accordingly, I spent a good bit of time making beaded jewelry. Jewelry based, specifically, on two different types of changelings.

I tend to like to make jewelry based on themes, and I'd just finished Delia Sherman's Changeling, which prominently features three treasures of New York Between: the Magic Mirror of the Mermaid Queen, Tickets to Peter Pan (With The Original Tinkerbell!), and the Scales of the Dragon of Wall Street. So I made some pieces based on that.

I also made some pieces based not on the book Changeling, but on my Changeling: The Lost roleplaying game from a couple of years ago. Accordingly they are both faerie and Seattle-themed.

There's more, but I need to figure out where I put it, and photograph it...

In happier news!

This weekend is Christmas Present Synthesis Weekend (since the ebay packages with all the craft supplies to make them with have begun to trickle in). I have:

* pocketwatch gears
* beautiful spiral mainsprings
* gemstone chip beads
* lengths of chain
* scrap silk
* watercolor cotton in two colors
* organza in three colors
* velvet in four colors
* four different kinds of leather pieces
* odd little charms

...and more miscellanea coming, including a set of leatherworking punches. (I need to get some hardware -- bead wire, needles, that kind of thing -- from actual stores this weekend, but ebay has proved to have both a more interestingly esoteric selection and cheaper prices. Whee.)

Since I can deliver family presents in person, and presents for friends largely in person (since we'll be back in LA shortly after Christmas, so I can hand-deliver to both local and California friends), I expect that my holiday package-ness will mostly be components coming to me rather than presents being mailed. Heh. (The other advantage of hand-delivering is that I don't have to have everything done three weeks before Christmas, which is, er, now.) Plus some of my presents and present elements will be edible.

I need a crafting icon.

The boy and I should have been out the door and heading to his father's a while ago, but I can't really regret the delay for two reasons:

1) A few days ago, I bought a lot of watch parts on eBay, and they arrived. They're astonishingly beautiful -- tiny perfect brass and silver gears, frozen-in-time watchfaces, long coiling mainsprings, rounded glass watchfaces. I'll be able to make all kinds of interesting things for my steampunk costume, and probably for other art projects too.

2) I had a highly entertaining (and fairly plotty!) dream. It's beginning to fade, so I will preserve it for posterity )
