Sep. 2nd, 2008 01:11 amGoogle Chrome looks really interesting. Assuming the description/explanation is correct, it has some major performance advantages, and some truly nifty unique features.
The problem? I have a lot of Firefox extensions. More importantly, there are a lot of Firefox extensions that I use and rely on daily. It's entirely possible that Chrome will have some type of add-on capability, now or eventually, but even if so, all my shiny extensions won't be there out of the box.
I'll probably download Chrome and play with it, and I guess we'll see whether its advantages are worth giving up my nifty extensions.

* DownThemAll, an application that enables mass filterable downloading (for instance, if I want to grab all the .mp3s linked from a page, or all the images, or whatever, with one dialog/command).
* LiveJournal Addons, which does fun things like automatically unfold pages with more comments than will display, notifies me when I have new messages, and tells me of upcoming birthdays in my statusbar
* Greasemonkey, and various scripts (for instance, one that allows me to killfile people on various blogging sites, if I don't want to see their posts, and another that simplifies LJ tagging)
* Stylish, which gives me some control over how various ugly-but-useful websites display to me
* Adblock Plus
* TabMix Plus, which does fun things with tabs (though it's possible Chrome already does those things natively; I haven't looked)
And there are a few more that I only need occasionally (the Firefox eBay Companion, the save-a-flash-file-from-YouTube-locally add-on) but that I'd miss if I did want them and they weren't there.
